แพรคทิเคิล ดีไซน์ สตูดิโอ
ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 2004 ในฐานะสตูดิโอออกแบบการสื่อสารและที่ปรึกษาด้านความคิดสร้างสรรค์กว่า 15 ปี ทำหน้าที่เป็นทั้งพื้นที่สร้างสรรค์ผลงานเชิงพาณิชย์และแล็บทดลองทางความคิดด้านเรขศิลป์ร่วมสมัย สตูดิโอแห่งนี้ขับเคลื่อนด้วยความเชื่อที่ว่าการออกแบบไม่ได้เป็นเพียงเรื่องของสุนทรียภาพหรือการแก้ปัญหาทางธุรกิจเท่านั้น แต่คือระบบภาษาทัศนศิลป์ที่มีพลังในการตั้งคำถาม สะท้อนปรากฏการณ์ทางสังคม และสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้คนกับบริบทรอบข้างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ
กระบวนการทำงานของ แพรคทิเคิล เป็นการประยุกต์ใช้ตรรกะเชิงโครงสร้างเข้ากับอารมณ์ความรู้สึกอย่างประณีต ครอบคลุมตั้งแต่วางระบบอัตลักษณ์ การออกแบบตัวอักษร งานสิ่งพิมพ์และหนังสือ ไปจนถึงการริเริ่มจัดนิทรรศการและนวัตกรรมสื่อสารรูปแบบใหม่ๆ แสดงออกผ่านผลงานที่ผ่านมา อาทิ ระบบอัตลักษณ์ของหอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร (BACC) การออกแบบรูปเล่มและจัดระบบเนื้อหาพจนานุกรมฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. 2555 การริเริ่มและขับเคลื่อนโครงการ “ฉันเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทย” (I am a Thai graphic designer) โครงการสัมมนา “Somewhere Thai” เพื่อเปิดพื้นที่ตั้งคำถามและค้นหาความเป็นไปได้ของอัตลักษณ์ไทยในงานดีไซน์ร่วมสมัย รวมไปถึงนิทรรศการเดี่ยวเชิงทดลองอย่าง Rewind to the next ที่นำเสนอกระบวนการคิดย้อนรอยประสบการณ์การทำงานของสตูดิโอผ่านโครงสร้างความสัมพันธ์ทางคณิตศาสตร์ ตรรกะ และสัญชาตญาณ
จนในปี ค.ศ. 2019 แพรคทิเคิล ดีไซน์ สตูดิโอ ได้ปรับเปลี่ยนบทบาทไปสู่การเป็นสังคมด้านการศึกษาทางเลือก เพื่อมุ่งเน้นการสร้างสรรค์สังคมแห่งการเรียนรู้ การถ่ายทอดกระบวนการคิดเชิงออกแบบ และการเปิดพื้นที่แลกเปลี่ยนทักษะสร้างสรรค์แก่ผู้คนในวงกว้าง
ปัจจุบันสมาชิกแต่ละคนยังคงสร้างสรรค์ผลงานสร้างสรรค์ของตนเอง ควบคู่ไปกับการกลับมารวมตัวกันขับเคลื่อนงานด้านการศึกษาและงานสาธาณะในนาม PRACTICAL School of Design เพื่อเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการสร้างและผลักดันให้เกิดวัฒนธรรมการออกแบบร่วมสมัย
PRACTICAL DESIGN STUDIO
Founded in 2004, Practical Design Studio operated for over 15 years as a communication design studio and creative consultancy, serving as both a commercial practice and a conceptual laboratory for contemporary graphic design. The studio was driven by the conviction that design is not merely about aesthetics or business problem-solving, but functions as a powerful visual language capable of asking critical questions, reflecting social phenomena, and fostering meaningful interactions between people and their environments.
The practice of Practical Design Studio thoughtfully integrated structural logic with emotional nuance, spanning visual identity systems, typography, editorial and book design, as well as self-initiated exhibitions and innovative media formats. This philosophy was reflected in landmark projects such as the visual identity system for the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), the editorial design and layout system for the Royal Institute Dictionary (2012 Edition), the I am a Thai graphic designer initiative, and the Somewhere Thai seminar series—which opened up dialogue on the possibilities of Thai identity in contemporary design—as well as the experimental solo exhibition Rewind to the next, which unpacked the studio’s design process through the interplay of mathematical structures, logic, and intuition.
In 2019, Practical Design Studio transitioned from traditional design services into an alternative educational community, shifting its focus toward creating a culture of learning, sharing design thinking, and providing an open platform for creative skill exchange.
Today, while each core member continues to pursue independent creative and artistic practices, they regularly reunite to drive educational programs and public initiatives under PRACTICAL School of Design, actively contributing to and shaping contemporary design culture.
