ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก — Nice to Meet You

The ongoing art and design project by Santi Lawrachawee explores the micro-narratives of everyday people across various cities. It aims to broaden and soften our understanding of life and the world, translating human presence, language, attitudes, and memories into tangible art and design experiences through interactions between people, time, and space.

SHARJAH Nice to Meet You [2018] — تشرفنا (Tasharrafna)

The Nice to Meet You project originated at the Fikra Graphic Biennale 2018 in Sharjah, UAE. Moving away from meticulous studio-based graphic design, Santi shifted toward spontaneous fieldwork—drawing portraits using typography derived from his subjects’ names and exploring cities on foot to connect with strangers rather than focusing on architectural landmarks.

Bangkok Nice to Meet You [2022] — ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก

The project evolved into an exhibition format at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). This body of work emerged from daily walks from Santi’s residence to the city center during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing him to rediscover his home city in a new light.

Pattani Nice to Meet You (2022, 2027) — سلام بركنل (Selamat berkenal)

The project also took a participatory form in Pattani, inviting local residents to engage in urban exploration and human connection, thereby exploring new possibilities for utilizing everyday city life and culture as creative capital.

Phuket Nice to Meet You (2025) — ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก แต่ว่า…

During the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025, the project spent over eight months deeply immersed in the local community, traditions, and daily life of Phuket.

Presented as an installation titled “Phuket Nice to Meet You” (2025), it combined mixed media—including terracotta journey maps, embossed name-card portraits, dialogue newspapers, and videos—to reflect the essence of Phuket through the intimate stories of its people.
